Kim and Tom's Story
Kim received a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Through it all, she held on to one heartfelt wish: a spa-like, luxury bathroom remodel where she could slow down, breathe, and find real comfort during the hardest season of her life. We wanted to give her more than a beautiful room. We wanted to create a calm, healing retreat that brings her peace and joy each day. Her husband, Tom, has spent 35 years serving others through nonprofit ministry, including work with prisons and youth. They are used to giving, not receiving.
The day we revealed the surprise is one we'll never forget. When Kim and Tom realized the gift was real, the room filled with emotion. Kim broke down in tears, hardly able to find the words. In a touching coincidence, Tom's late mother shared the initials "JH," just like our company. It felt like a sign that this was exactly where we were meant to be.
Why We Started the Heart Project
Our founder, Josh, has quietly given back to others for years. He has repainted homes, organized holiday drives, and helped families he has never met. Kim's story touched him deeply. He couldn't stop thinking about a woman facing the fight of her life with one simple wish, a calm, spa-like space to find comfort and joy. That feeling moved him to act. So JH Contracting Group turned years of generosity into an official community service project, built to give Kim her peaceful retreat and to keep serving McHenry families for years to come.

Donating Partners
This donated bathroom renovation was possible because our community showed up. Generous partners donated materials, and our team donated 100% of the labor. The couple paid nothing. We're proud to work alongside local businesses and community organizations that care.
A Sanctuary Almost Complete
